Procurement

As we have a commitment to deliver quality to our customers, we consider quality and reliability to play an integral part in our collaboration with suppliers. Get to know the broad spectrum of our purchasing activities and find out more about our quality and supplier relationship management here.

Our purchasing philosophy

Currently, HARTMANN works together with 1,500 supplieres out of a multiplicity of industry sectors and regions.

As a company with global operations, the HARTMANN GROUP purchases on a worldwide basis; that said the majority of our production plants and customers are based in Europe, so procurement tends to concentrate on this region.

Our purchasing managers buy in not only raw materials and goods from a wide range of areas, but also services, which are becoming increasingly important. In this context, in conjunction with our German and international suppliers our purchasing managers bring their specialist know-how to bear to optimize the value added of the purchase for the Company.

HARTMANN currently collaborates with around 1,500 suppliers from a broad spectrum of sectors and regions. They include all sizes of companies, because, in our opinion, the size of sales is not the only decisive factor. What also counts are consistently high quality and a long-term, mutually beneficial alliance. A company such as HARTMANN cannot function without reliable suppliers.

In selecting our suppliers we not only take the purchase price, the quality of the products and fulfillment of our quality criteria into consideration. Increasingly, the total cost of supply plays a decisive role. In addition to the purchase price this provides information about the costs involved in entering into a business relationship with a supplier, of workflow and administration inputs associated with the supply relationship.

Our suppliers represent important contacts in the industry and are a source of additional creativity with regard to innovations and cost cutting. For this reason we expect from them service and information above and beyond the mere product itself. On this basis we cooperate in jointly developing and enhancing products in order to generate the maximum level of creativity for the benefit of our customers.

The biggest challenge we face is that of ecologically-oriented purchasing, because companies are no longer rated simply on the basis of their products, but also on the contribution they make to an intact environment. It is therefore also with a view to ecological factors that we strive to establish lasting, trustful relationships with several suppliers of any one object.
