Urinary incontinence therapy

Possible urinary incontinence therapies

Many different methods are available for the treatment of urinary incontinence. Because most therapy options are aimed at the cause of incontinence, the diagnosis is very important for the treatment. Apart from conservative treatment methods (physiotherapy, drugs), an operation can also eliminate the causes of incontinence.

Behavioral therapy
If it is possible to regain control of urination at least partially through toilet and micturition training, this can improve the physical and psychological situation of the person affected and maintain his independence.

Physiotherapeutic measures
The persons affected can learn correct tensing and relaxation of the pelvic floor musculature through special training or physiotherapeutic treatment.

Further treatment options for the different types of incontinence
Apart from conservative therapy methods, the physician can also use medicinal and surgical methods for the treatment of patients with urinary incontinence.

Aids
The provision of incontinent persons with absorbent incontinence products is another important part of the overall treatment. It is carried out concomitantly to therapy until the person affected is symptom-free.
