Hydrotul - the hydroactive impregnated dressing

To facilitate acute and chronic wound treatment, HARTMANN has developed a novel wound dressing that combines the benefits of conventional non-medicated tulle dressings with modern hydroactive technology. While the neutral ointment keeps the wound margins soft and supple, hydrocolloid particles, embedded in the ointment mass, create a moist wound environment to speed wound healing. Nevertheless Hydrotul is just as simple to use as a conventional tulle dressing and can be combined for the absorption of secretion with all common absorbent dressing pads.

The benefits and properties of Hydrotul

  • Hydrotul keeps wound margins soft and supple and thus preventing maceration.
  • Hydrotul has a large-volume honeycomb like structure for unimpaired secretion removal.
  • Hydrotul contains in its ointment mass hydrocolloid particles which absorb wound moisture and that way develop a healing-promoting environment.
  • Hydrotul can remain on the wound for several days to allow the wound to “rest” and accelerate the healing process.
  • Hydrotul does not stick to the wound and therefore enables an  atraumatic dressing change.
  • Hydrotul has a broad range of indications. The impregnated dressing is suitable for the treatment of acute wounds as well as chronic wounds.
  • Hydrotul can be combined for the absorption of secretion with all common absorbent dressing pads.
  • Hydrotul is easy to handle, also from a very practical standpoint. The impregnated dressing won’t stick to examination gloves and can be readily cut to size using sterile scissors to fit the wound size and shape.
  • Hydrotul also ensures particularly economic wound management. The ointment impregnated dressing is a cost-efficient alternative to other hydroactive products and is time- and cost-saving due to prolonged dressing change intervals.

Another plus of the new impregnated dressing is its high level of acceptance among patients. In early application studies 85% of patients assessed Hydrotul as “very good” or “good” on tolerance, wearing comfort and overall impression
