ODBC – database connection problems on Win 98 and Win NT

If the following error message appears when you start HILMAS after installation for the first time,

this can have 3 possible causes.

1. The database previously used, does not exist any more on your computer. Create a new database as described in the Manual.

2. The database can not be reached. This might have been caused by a problem within the network, which could have been a missing network drive or a lack of access rights. Both problems can be remedied by using the following link:
Hilmas4.ini – Error message after installation of HILMAS 4.0

3. A third cause can be derived from the Windows 98 and NT versions, as it could be that no ODBC database drivers have been installed. This can be checked in the system’s control function “Control Panel” which you can open” by using the way Start --> Settings –> Control Panel. In the Control Panel window click the icon “Accessibility Options”  (?) and select “ODBC data sources”.

The ODBC data source administrator window appears. Click the “Add” tab. Normally a menu opens showing the database drivers already installed. This might be empty on your computer.

To solve this problem you should install the ODBC driver paket wich you can download and install using the following link. Please make sure other applications have been closed, as you will need to re-start your system afterwards.
