The types of wounds and how to treat them

Principles of wound treatment
When treating injuries, efficient first aid is crucial to the successful healing of the wound.

Skin abrasion wounds
Skin abrasion wounds are painful, but do heal relatively quickly.

Cuts
Cuts are extremely common injuries.

Stab wounds
Stab wounds usually look harmless from the outside, but can also run deep.

Crushing wounds, lacerations and flesh wounds
Crushing and flesh wounds are caused by blunt objects and lacerations by irregularly sharp objects.

Bite wounds
Approximately 30,000 damage cases due to bite injuries are reported to the insurance companies in Germany each year. The number of unreported cases is probably much higher.

Signs of an inflamed wound
A wound can become inflamed as a result of penetrating germs or incorrect treatment.
